First meeting of the "Poverty and Inclusion Thematic Network" - good practices and strengthened cooperations
The 1st meeting of the thematic network focused on the presentation of the main challenges of poverty and inclusion on the European level and the leading EU policy trends including social innovation to mitigate them. After the presentation of the European frameworks by Katalin Szatmári, expert of the European Commission DG Employment, Department of Social Affairs and Inclusion, a national-level example of operationalizing the EU policy strategies was discussed. István Tamás Szenttamási, social innovation expert of IFKA gave a short introduction into the poverty- and inclusion-related priorities of the Human Resources Development Operational Programme Plus (HRDOP Plus) of Hungary. Then Zsófia Batta, the representative of the Ministry of Interior presented the dedicated social innovation priority of the Hungarian ESF+ programme, namely the „Emerging Settlements Programme” that was also a good example of scaling social innovation.
After the policy-focused programme parts, the emphasis was put on the practice. Participants of the meeting got insights into member state-level good examples of social innovation initiatives targeting the mitigation of poverty and social inclusion-related issues. Stefani Doynova from Volkshilfe Wien presented the SOPHIE project, a programme for providing social services to sex workers in Austria. The second good practice, a nurse-family partnership program from Bulgaria was introduced by Iskra Stoykova, the program officer of the Trust for Social Achievement Foundation. Finally, from Slovakia, inclusive approaches for housing and supported employment of TENENET NGO were presented Nikoletta Luptakova.
At the end of the meeting participants had an opportunity to address questions to the speakers and to discuss further cooperation opportunities in the future.
